Dr. Shin received his medical degree from Seoul National University and held several leadership posts with the Republic of Korea Naval Medical Center & Hospital prior to his arrival in the U.S.

A leader in the Korean American community of Central Maryland since 1974, Dr. Shin has served on the Korean Society of Greater Baltimore; the Korean Medical Association of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia; the Korean Scholarship Foundation in America; Seoul National University Alumni Association; and the Korean Service Center of Metropolitan Baltimore.

He currently serves as Chair and Executive Director of the Korean American Community Association of Howard, County, Inc. (KACAHI) and Vice Chair and interim Medical Director of the Asian American Healthcare Center. He is a current member of the Commission on Aging for the Howard County, Maryland.
